‘Introducing MC Mic-Mac’: Insiders Remixes Deputy PM Michael McCormack’s Vaccine Rap For Young Australians

After Deputy PM Michael McCormack appeared on Today and Sunrise last week to suggest that the government create a rap to encourage young people to get vaccinated, ABC’s Insiders has remixed his attempt.

On the Today show, host Ally Langdon played McCormack the Chinese vaccination campaign, a rap video.

Langdon then asks, “can you rap?” to which McCormack wiggles his shoulders and replies, “not very well!”

Then, later in the segment, he said “maybe ScoMo or someone could do a rap, probably better than I’ve just done.”

McCormack’s ScoMo rapping suggestion then came up on Sunrise, where David ‘Kochie’ Koch suggested he performed his own version of such a rap.

McCormack then did a little dance and said, in a dubiously rap-esque manner: “make sure you get the jab” before laughing and saying, “you know, maybe you could do one too Kochie.”

The Insiders remix – made with the help of Melbourne musician Will Klep (known as voidhood) and editor Huw Parkinson (rabbitsandcoffee) – is slightly more catchy than McCormack’s (or ‘MC Mic-Mac’) a capella version.
