Epic Games’ Unreal Engine Used To Create New Music Video

The same technology that is used to power Fortnite has now been used to create a music video, after Luke Steele and Jarrad Rogers released H300

The new musical project from the duo marks the first time Epic Games’ Unreal Engine – which is used for a range of games including Fortnite – has been used to create a music video.

The music videos for new singles ‘Running’ and ‘Flames’ were made by production and design company Collider and feature a playable final game level in which the musical duo ‘Luke 18’ and ‘Mstr Rogers’ control their own sci-fi avatars as they are chased across a dramatic black sand tundra.

The duo, having successfully stolen an artefact make their way down from the mountains to get back to their craft.

They know it’s only a matter of time before they are found out and pursued by an ominous threat who are hot on their heels.

Music video and animation director Andrew van der Westhuyzen said: “I’ve been following Unreal Engine for some time but this was the first project that Collider decided to jump all in and embrace a very different way of working. It was exciting to approach what would have been a traditional animation process in a very different way and discover the beautifully rich, immersive and serendipitous possibilities that Unreal Engine can create.”

Unreal Engine is the world’s most open and advanced real-time 3D creation platform for photoreal visuals and
immersive experiences and has been used to create games such as Fortnight, Street Fighter V and the Final Fantasy VII remake.
