Digital services consultancy and ASX-listed company RXP Group has developed a new mobile application for betting exchange Betfair.

According to a statement from RXP Group, the new app marks a significant investment by Betfair as it positions the business for future growth.

Available on iOS, Android and mobile web platforms, the app has been designed to provide an enhanced user experience for existing customers, as well as attracting new customers to the platform.

RXP was appointed to design and build the app following a competitive tender. A discovery phase, using human centred design and ethnographic research, was undertaken with internal and customer stakeholders and the UX and UI learnings then applied to the build.

Open-source mobile app framework React Native was used to develop the app, which is hosted on AWS using its serverless technology for improved efficiency.

Unlike other digital wagering companies, Betfair is a peer-to-peer betting exchange where punters can access better odds than a traditional bookmaker.

The new app includes a new design and marketplace navigation with enhanced betting features designed to facilitate simple, fast and efficient mobile betting.

Chad Jones, product manager at Betfair, said: “We wanted an app which better represented the full suite of capabilities of our exchange. We had a highly productive relationship with RXP throughout this project and we’re delighted with the outcome.”

Jared Hill, group executive, southern region at RXP Group, added: “This was a complex build with many moving parts but the team, working collaboratively with Betfair, have created a future proofed product that now puts the customer front and centre of the experience.

“What made it even more challenging was most of the work was done entirely remotely during the peak of the pandemic.”
