The annual search for the very best of Australia’s young media, creative, and marketing professionals has begun, with Cannes Lions Festival representative The Misfits announcing entries are now officially open for the 2021 Snapchat Young Lions Competition.

The Young Lions Competition, which is proudly supported by Snapchat and The Trade Disk, gives blossoming media talent the opportunity to represent Australia at the 2020 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, with entries open to the 2021 categories: Media, Digital, Film and Marketing.

Entries are open to teams of two young communications professionals at the start of their career.

All submissions will be assessed by a team of over 60 high profile industry judges, with five teams shortlisted in each category. These finalists will then be required to take part in a second round of judging for a non-profit partner where they will be briefed and be required to present a response 24 hours later. Film finalists are given 48 hours and are not required to present live.

Due to travel restrictions between Australia and Europe, Cannes Young Lions 2021 will have a different structure to previous years. The Winners of Australian Cannes Young Lions 2021 will receive the following prizes:

  • Winning teams to virtually enter the Cannes Lions Global Competition to compete against the most creative teams from all over the world.
  • Send the winning teams on a holiday to Cairns—this is our tongue in cheek replacement trip to Cannes!
  • Enrol each runner ups’ team member into a top online course applicable to their category.

Winners will also have the opportunity to showcase their talent internationally by competing against teams from all over the world. It’s a hugely rewarding experience that could change a career forever.

“Snapchat has always been about reimagining the world around you through creativity and innovation,” Kathryn Carter, general manager for ANZ, SEA and HK at Snapchat, said.

“With that in mind, we are excited to empower and celebrate the next generation of Australian creatives by continuing our partnership through this program.”

Snapchat has again returned with official naming rights and as sponsor of the digital category, alongside The Trade Desk as sponsor of the media category, and the industry social purpose organisation UnLtd’s charity The Pinnacle Foundation as sponsor of the marketing category.

Moreover, UnLtd’s Musicisans Making A Difference is providing the brief for the film category.

Entries close on 12 March 2021 at 5pm (AEDT). To enter, you must go to the Snapchat Young Lions Competition Australia entry portal and fill out the online registration form. Entries cost $249 +GST.
