The nation’s favourite voice to listen to when working from home has been revealed.

The ‘WFH Interiors Trend Report’ by online retailer Made.com analysed 2000 Spotify work from home playlists to reveal that the artist that featured the most on WFH playlists on Spotify was ‘August’ singer Taylor Swift.

Swift claims the top spot as the voice of working from home in 2020, with the folk-pop queen appearing across 27 of the 2,000 playlists analysed.

August from her album Folklore appeared on four playlists, with ‘the 1’ and ‘peace’, from the same album, both appearing on three WFH playlists.

The second most popular was Khruangbin, an American musical trio, with 14 playlist appearances. They are known for blending global music influences, such as classic soul, dub, and psychedelia.

Ariana Grande took third place, appearing on 13 playlists overall.

When it came to the most popular song to work to, it was a three-way tie between Harry Styles’ ‘Adore You’, Taylor Swift’s August and Maggie Rogers’ ‘Light On’.

Made.com analysed over 2000 Spotify “WFH” playlists to create the ultimate mood-boosting playlist featuring everything from Billie Eilish and Justin Bieber to multiple hits from Harry Styles and Taylor Swift.

Unsurprisingly the most featured genre on the WFH playlists was pop. Dr. Emma Gray of the British CBT and Counseling Service worked with Spotify to discover that musical tempo in the range of 50-80 beats per minute induces the alpha state in a person’s brain, causing concentration to be heightened.

The average pop song however has 116 bpm on average, making the genre slightly too fast for this optimum concentration zone.
