Stan Sport Subscription Price Revealed

Sports fans will have to pay $10 a month to sign up for Stan Sport when it launches later this year, according to reports.

The Nine-owned Sydney Morning Herald, is today reporting that Stan (also owned by Nine) will offer Stan Sport as a supplementary service, meaning fans must also have a subscription to Stan’s main service to be given access.

With a monthly subscription to Stan currently costing users around $10 a month, the total cost of Stan Sport will be about $20 per month.

As it stands, Stan Sport will include Wallabies Test, Super Rugby, Shute Shield, the Hospital Cup, Mitre 10 and the Currie Cup, as well as tennis from Wimbledon and the French Open.

Coverage will be live and ad-free during play.

Nine announced it would be launching Stan Sport late last year, after securing the broadcast rights deal with Rugby Australia believed to be worth $100 million over three years.

Stan Sport will launch in time for the kick-off of the 2021 Super Rugby season, which is scheduled for February 19.

Nine is yet to confirm who will form the commentary team, however it has been reported the media company is pursuing cross-code rugby star Sonny Bill Williams as one option.

The Herald reports today that Nine will make its top talent available to call club rugby matches when there is no clash with Wallabies fixtures, in an effort to help grow the game at a grassroots level.

Nine is also now on the lookout for more sports rights deals to bolster up Stan Sport. There were reports last week Nine was eyeing off the National Basketball League (NBL) rights as an option.
