TV Show Axed After On-Air Tutorial Shows Women How To “Shop Sexy”

An Italian TV show has been axed after it sparked nationwide outrage after airing tips to its female viewers on how “shop in a sexy way”.

The program called Detto Fatto (English translation: No Sooner Said Than Done) was broadcast on the state-owned channel Rai 2 and featured ballerina and pole dance teacher Emily Angelillo advising women on how to look sexy and sensual while doing the grocery shopping.

Angelillo’s, who was dressed in leather shorts and high-heels, tips included how to reach for groceries while showing a bit of leg and how to bend over and pick up something from the floor in a “non vulgar” way.

Viewers were so shocked by the segment, many initially mistook it as parody. While Italian politicians are demanding to know how the segment ever went to air in the first place.

One government minister, Teresa Bellanova, took to Twitter to voice her outrage: “For how long must we continue talking about women in a false, stereotypical way, with stiletto heels, sexy moves, always perfect, mermaids or witches?”

Detto Fatto has since been cancelled following the outrage and Rai 2’s CEO, Fabrizio Salini, has ordered an investigation into the episode that he said  had “nothing to do with the spirit of the public service and with the editorial line of Rai”.
