Cooked? Seven Ditches Two-Part Plate Of Origin Finale For One Back-To-Back Special

Channel Seven has ditched its original plans for a two-part Plate of Origin finale across two nights in favour of one back-to-back three hour special next Tuesday 22 September.

It is understood Seven’s decision to turn the two-part finale into one massive special is due to a change in the AFL schedule, which now sees Collingwood play Port Adelaide on Monday September 21.

However, the show’s underperformance can’t be ruled out as another possible reason for the change in schedule.

Plate of Origin was supposed to be Seven’s answer to MasterChef, fronted by cooking veterans Gary Mehigan, Matt Preston and Manu Feildel.

However, the show failed to lift-off and has continued to dip in the ratings. Monday night saw the show hit a new low of 342,000 metro viewers as it failed to crack the top 20 shows of the night.

It is unclear whether Plate of Origin will be renewed for another season but it seems unlikely. However, Upfronts season kicks off soon, so an answer to that question is imminent.
