News Corp Mastheads To Publish New Lifestyle Section SMARTdaily

News Corp Australia’s state-based metropolitan and major regional mastheads today unveiled a new digital destination and eight-page print liftout focusing on lifestyle to form the company’s third editorial pillar after news and sport.

The new Monday to Friday section, called SMARTdaily, provides audiences with practical advice and information combined with expert advice and compelling news that audiences can use in their daily lives.

SMARTdaily is an evolution of the COVID-19-inspired section HiberNation, providing advertisers with a fresh channel to advertise in a brand-safe environment while attracting new subscribers and adding value to existing ones.

In addition to the daily liftout, an extra four-page SMARTguide will be published regularly featuring themes around specific and diverse topics, ranging from superannuation to camping and caravanning, spring gardening to pets.

SMARTdaily will feature:

– Money advice and cost of living

– Mental health and wellness

– Entertainment – what to watch, read and listen to

– Food and recipes

– Puzzles and trivia with The Shark – Brydon Coverdale from Network 7s The Chase Australia

– Parenting advice

– Pets

– Savvy shopping – great deals and advice

SMARTdaily editor Louise Roberts (main photo) said the new section reflects readers’ appetite for content to help re-evaluate their lifestyles.

“Our readers are trying to look to the future beyond COVID-19,” Roberts said.

“We always have to be responsive to what our readers want and SMARTdaily is very much an audience-led initiative with their feedback critical in shaping the type of content we’re producing such as cost of living.

“SMARTdaily will be jam-packed with advice, led by trusted experts and our editorial team to help people live their best lives.”

Expert columnists will include Edwina Bartholomew writing about life as a new working mum, Joe Hilderbrand’s weekly view on TV and entertainment and Serina Bird – aka the Joyful Frugalista who anchors a new section called Savvy Shopper designed to help people find the best grocery and shopping deals on offer.

SMARTdaily will also house many of News Corp’s experts such as Sophie Elsworth and Anthony Keane writing about money, cost of living and finance.

News Corp Australia’s National Executive Editor Peter Blunden said: “SMARTdaily is all about great lifestyle content to complement our unrivalled coverage of news and sport.

“It’s been a tough time for our country, and this upbeat new section is all about enjoying the best things in life. With authority and expertise, SMARTdaily provides a daily menu of food, health, fitness, money, entertainment, travel, shopping, home, pets, brain training and much more.

“Our audiences and commercial partners have really embraced Hibernation content, and we’re confident they will enjoy the Spring evolution into an engaging new section across all platforms.”
