Ray Hadley And 2GB Reach Out-Of-Court Settlement Over Alleged Bullying Of Former Staffer

Ray Hadley and 2GB have reached an out-of-court settlement over the alleged decade-long bullying that took place with the radio host’s former staffer Chris Bowen.

In late March last year, Bown accused Hadley of bullying in a Facebook posted that prompted an investigation by 2GB. However, Bowen proceeded to take legal action against Hadley as well, accusing him of negligence and breaching his duty of care.

Bowen (left in main photo) also accused Hadley of calling him a “f*cking poof”, a “f*cking spastic” and a “poor simpleton”.

The out-of-court settlement was agreed to over a week ago.

Following Bowen’s allegations on Facebook last year, Hadley responded to the allegations, saying he “never meant any harm”.

However, he conceded there were times their relationship was volatile.

He said on-air in March 2019: “He was a young bloke, full cheek and full of ability, through our years together we became very close — probably more like a father and son relationship and given what he had to deal with personally.

“I tried to help him as much as I could. One of the saddest parts of my broadcasting life was the end of our relationship.”

He continued: “I’d like to think as part of his recovery we could catch up into the future and talk about all the good times we’ve had over the years, there were plenty of them.

“The bottom of the story he is a fairly decent person who is having some struggles and I wish him well.”

Bowen wasn’t the first employee to accuse Hadley of workplace bullying.

In 2015, Hadley was accused of being a “psychotic bully” by Macquarie Radio’s chairman Russell Tate after the broadcaster was recorded launching a tirade at another of the network’s produces, Richard Palmer.

That time around Hadley was suspended and later paid Palmer an unnamed amount in damages.

It was also reported that Bowen first lodged a bullying complaint about Hadley as far back as 2018.
