96FM Perth’s Managing Director, Gary Roberts has received a Member of the Order of Australia medal as part of the Australia Day 2020 honours for his incredible contribution to the Australian radio industry.

During his career in commercial radio, Roberts was the first program director for 96FM, securing a record 45 ratings wins for the station. He returned to 96FM in April 2019 with decades of radio experience at a senior level, including having successfully managed all three of the major commercial networks.

He was also a Director of Commercial Radio Australia for eight years and was Chairman of the peak radio industry body for three years from 1998 to 2000 – the only person from WA to ever have that role.

ARN CEO & Managing Director, Ciaran Davis said: “ARN is extremely proud of 96FM Perth’s Managing Director, Gary Roberts, for receiving Member (AM) in the general division of the Order of Australia over the weekend. The honour is reflective of Gary’s significant service to the radio industry across his career, and is a truly well deserving one.

“ARN congratulates Gary and thanks him for his outstanding work providing leadership and management for 96FM, and for his inspiring contribution to the industry as a whole.”
