The Monkeys has announced the promotion of Hugh Munro from business strategy director to head of planning.

With 19 Effie Awards under his belt, Munro is most recently behind campaigns Telstra ‘You Don’t Need Australia’s Best Network Until You Do’ and CGU Insurance ‘ABN Rescue’. He has also worked as a strategist on campaigns for ALDI, the Australian Government, Cure Brain Cancer and the National Heart Foundation.

Commenting on his promotion, Munro said: “Every planner wants to work in a place where clients come for provocative ideas and a tight-knit planning team challenge and support each other’s thinking.”

“I’m really looking forward to working even more closely with this bunch of talented strategists.”

The Monkeys chief strategy officer Fabio Buresti added: “From his first day in the agency, Hugh has made a huge contribution to the quality of strategic thinking within the team.”

Previous to The Monkeys, Munro was head of planning at BMF and prior to that role, strategy director at Tongue. He has also worked at creative agencies McCann Worldgroup and The Campaign Palace.
