Canadian Greens Politician Busted In Keep Cup Photoshop Fail

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau isn’t the only Canadian politician to find themselves embroiled in a photo scandal in the lead up to next month’s election, although the Green Party’s Elizabeth May has taken a very different tact.

The leader of the party has admitted the photo [feature image] was doctored, although she claims it was done so without her knowledge.

The original image shows May smiling while she holds what appears to be a paper cup. However, the image was then edited to show the political leader showing a reusable plastic cup, complete with the Party’s logo and a metal straw.

Despite being caught up in the embarrassing gaffe, May claims the cup she was holding in the original photo was, in fact, a compostable disposable cup.

“My personal daily practice is to avoid single use plastic items 100 per cent of the time,” May said in a statement.

“I walk the talk every day. I hope that despite this misstep by well-meaning party staff (who hoped to brand the image with our logo), people can believe that in the original photo there is nothing I would have hidden,” she added.
