Global Beauty Blogger Sensation James Charles Loses A Whopping 2M Followers In Two Days

A highly public feud between two of the world’s biggest beauty bloggers James Charles and Tati Westbrook has cost Charles a whopping two million followers since the online spat began last Friday.

He’s the first YouTuber to lose over one million followers in 24 hours.

The beauty blogger began losing followers in droves after mega YouTube star Tati Westbrook uploaded a video announcing she was cutting ties with Charles in a 43 minute post.

Westbrook publically ended the friendship after 19-year-old Charles endorsed a vitamin company, Sleep Vitamins by SugarBearHair at Coachella, which is a competitor of her personal beauty brand, Halo Beauty.

The celebrity spat caused Charles to lose a massive two million followers since Friday, according to social media analytics website Social Blade.

The US beauty sensation who cancelled his Gold Coast shopping centre appearance over the weekend had 16 million subscribers Friday, but that number is now at 14 million (at the time of publishing).

Both YouTube stars have made a fortune thanks to their beauty channels where they both post tutorials and videos on all things beauty.

It all went downhill for Charles when Westbrook called him out in her lengthy ‘break up’ video and said: “Get off your high horse and have some respect. You don’t have any for the people who are in this industry and that’s the sad fact.”

Hours before Charles was due to appear on the Gold Coast at a meet and greet on Saturday he posted video to YouTube in response to Westbrook, the woman who helped start his career.

He said in the video: “I hate knowing that I disappointed not only (my fans), but two people that have been role models for me doing this.

“What sucks the most is that I know there’s nothing I can say or do to ever earn that friendship or trust back but I don’t blame them for it.

“A lot of the time when I’ve had to address things in the past, I’ve acted out of impulse and I’ve gone off and tried to pull receipts or facts or screenshots and play the victim and I’m not doing that today, I’m not. That is all I have to say, I’m sorry.”

Not that we’d be crying over 14 million followers and millions of dollars in brand sponsorships…it’s still a massive loss for the YouTuber. Only time will tell how this feud will affect Charles’ online brand and his sponsorships.
