Rebecca Bezzina To Depart R/GA

R/GA Australia VP managing director Rebecca Bezzina has resigned from her role and will leave the network in March.

She’ll work with Tuomas Peltoniemi, EVP managing director APAC, over the coming months to transition responsibilities while the search for a new MD continues.

“Becs is a formidable force of nature who’s been instrumental in building the business in Australia, and infusing it with heart and soul,” said Peltoniemi.

“We’re all sorry to see her go, but excited to see what she does next.”

Bezzina was a near-founding member of R/GA Sydney, joining as Client Services Director in 2013.

After a break in 2016, she returned to the agency as MD, spearheading two and half years of growth, marked by new business wins including the NRL and Wine Australia, and the expansion of longstanding relationships with Google, Telstra, Toyota and Samsung.

Under her leadership, the agency has also flourished creatively, diversified through the addition of capabilities including a content studio and consulting arm, and opened a second Australian office in Melbourne.

Named by Campaign Asia as a “Woman To Watch” in 2017, Bezzina has also championed internal enterprises, such as the introduction of a Junior Board, the launch of an inclusion and diversity group, and a host of wellbeing and development initiatives.

“At six years old, R/GA is still a young agency in Australia, but under Becs’ leadership we’ve come of age,” said Global CEO, R/GA, Sean Lyons.

“She leaves having set us up for continued success, but we’re saddened that she won’t be with us for the next phase.

“Her energy, fearlessness, humour and heart will be very much missed by all those who work with her.”

Bezzina added: “I’m so proud to have led R/GA in Australia, grateful for the trust placed in me by our clients and team, and for the journey we’ve been on together these past 5 years.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with Tuomas in the coming months, before I begin to explore opportunities beyond the industry.”
