Domain CMO Melina Cruickshank Joins Rival REA Group

REA Group has announced the appointment of Melina Cruickshank as its chief marketing and content officer.

Cruickshank joins REA after more than 20 years in senior marketing and advertising roles both in Australia and in the UK. Most recently, Cruickshank was the chief marketing and content officer at Domain – a role she held for almost four years.

Prior to her role at Domain, Cruickshank was group director of life media at Fairfax, and was also a product manager in the first Fairfax Digital team that launched smh.com.au, theage.com.au and afr.com.au.

Cruickshank replaces Kieren Cooney, who left REA Group to join Foxtel in October.

Her appointment also follows last month’s announcement that Tracey Fellows is stepping down from her role as REA’s chief executive to become president of global digital real estate at News Corp.

Fellows said Cruickshank was the standout candidate for the chief marketing and content officer role.

“She is passionate about this sector and has a track record of success leading teams and growing product and content revenue streams in Australia and abroad,” Fellows said.

“Melina will drive our global marketing and content strategy, working with our talented teams in Australia and around the globe.”

Commenting on her appointment, Cruickshank said: “It is difficult to leave Domain. I’ve enjoyed my time here and am grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given.

“The transition offers a global role for the industry leader, and I’m excited about stepping up to lead teams at that level. I also have enormous respect for Tracey and the REA executive team and am excited to work with them.”
