Mars Food Snares Oporto’s Bronwyn Powell As Marketing Director

Mars Food Australia has appointed marketing director, Bronwyn Powell to head its portfolio of brands that include Masterfoods, Uncle Ben’s, Dolmio and Kan Tong. 

Powell joins from Oporto Franchising, after repositioning the brand in-market and developing a customer experience strategy.

Powell has more than 25 years’ experience in senior leader FMCG roles in blue chip companies, retail and quick service restaurants including Snackfoods, George Weston Foods (Tip Top Bakeries), SPC Ardmona (Coca-Cola Amatil), McDonald’s Australia, Oporto & Yum! Restaurants International. 

Mars Food Australia general manager, Hamish Thomson said, “We are thrilled to have Bronwyn joining our leadership team. She is a commercially astute marketer who thinks digital first and is passionate about innovation and transformational change – attributes we need to create food for the future and not for the past.”

Thomson added, “A key focus for Bronwyn will be to help shape Mars Food Australia’s future growth strategy, which will be driven by innovation into new flavours and formats and the sharing of healthier, easier, affordable, tasty meals”.

Powell’s  achievements include an Australian Promotional Marketing Association Award for the social media campaign #SPCSunday, in support of local manufacturing of SPC, and a Bronze Lion at Cannes for #Macitbetter, to connect millennials to McDonald’s.

“The Mars Food business is on the cusp of exciting change and I can’t wait to bring my experience and a digital lens to help drive that change, and to continue to delight consumers and customers.”
