Nike Unveils Quite Wonderful Ad Saluting England’s World Cup Campaign

They didn’t quite manage to “bring it home”, however, England’s World Cup squad still managed to inspire a nation during a remarkable campaign that saw the team finish fourth in the tournament.

And to celebrate the Three Lions’ performance in Russia, Nike in the UK has produced a new campaign – incredibly quickly, it must be said – to honour the young team’s achievements.

Called “Believe As One”, the ad’s the work of famed London agency Wieden+Kennedy and plays at the renaissance of English football – it’s a team game and not one based on individual stars (possibly a jibe at the Adidas-sponsored David Beckham?).

It’s also another way Nike’s managed to hijack its competitor Adidas who paid a motza to be the World Cup’s primary sportswear sponsor.

Of the top four teams in the tournament – France, Croatia, Belgium and England – three of those were kitted out by Nike (Belgium the exception). And of the total 150 goals scored leading up to the finals, Nike boots were worn to score 94 of them.

Anyway, it’s arguably one of the more powerful sports ads of 2018. Check it out below:
