Sky News Reporter Samantha Maiden Calls It Quits

Political reporter Samantha Maiden has announced her resignation from Sky News just over a month after she was stood down pending an internal investigation.

It’s understood the investigation was into numerous complaints made against Maiden by some of her staff members.

Maiden announced her resignation via an epic Twitter thread on Thursday afternoon, in which she also admitted that she has been suffering from anxiety and depression after being diagnosed late last year.

Maiden, has been a member of Canberra’s press gallery for the past 20 years, and has also previously worked for the ABC, Ten, Seven, News Corp, and the Australian Associated Press.

Australian News Channel CEO Angelos Frangopoulos confirmed Maiden’s resignation to staff in an email.

“She’s a great news breaker and I would like to thank her for her contribution to journalism at Sky News,” he wrote.

“I wish her and the family all the best for the future.”
