SodaStream Parodies Game Of Thrones’ Infamous ‘Shame’ Scene In New Ad

Game of Thrones actors Thor ‘The Mountain’ Bjornsson and Hannah Waddingham have starred in a new tongue-in-cheek video released by SodaStream, in a bid to raise awareness of Australia’s mounting plastic waste.

The video, titled ‘Shame or Glory’, recreates the hair-raising walk of shame scene from season five of GoT. It features an unsuspecting consumer who buys sparkling bottled water for Bjornsson, who is then followed by the bell-ringing, shame-yelling GoT character Septa Unella (played by Waddingham).

The ad was inspired by SodaStream’s research on plastic waste, which found that 49 per cent of Aussies felt guilty for failing to recycle, and 56 per cent have made no attempt to reduce their consumption of plastic in the first place.

The study also found that 24 per cent of Aussie men would feel more guilty about disposing of their plastic in the wrong bin than lying to their partner, and 18 per cent believe that not recycling properly would leave them feeling more guilty than deliberately not paying for an item at a self-service check-out.

This is not the first time Bjornsson has appeared in an ad for SodaStream, having starred in the company’s April Fools’ prank this year.
