Macquarie Media’s 2GB Celebrates 100 Consecutive Ratings Wins in Sydney

Maquarie Media’s 2GB has achieved a significant milestone in the Sydney radio ratings, with the station claiming its 100th consecutive victory in GfK’s Survey 7.

Despite experiencing drop of 0.3 per cent in overall market share in the latest survey, 2GB holds a firm grip on the Sydney market with 13.0 per cent.

Alan Jones’ has increased his lead in the brekkie time slot to 16.9 per cent, and now has 103 consecutive survey wins and 199 wins in his breakfast radio career.

Ray Hadley still rules the roost in the morning slot with 16.4 per cent, having notched up 100th consecutive ratings win in Survey 7, while Chris Smith remains number one in the afternoon slot with 12.8 per cent market share, and Steve Price continues to lead the weekday evening slot with 14.0 per cent.

Macquarie Media executive chairman Russell Tate described 2GB’s record of 100 consecutive survey wins “an extraordinary achievement” that has never been matched.

“Fundamental to its achievement are the contributions by Alan Jones and Ray Hadley, both of whom have also now registered 100 consecutive wins in their respective program,” he said.

“But we are also recognising today the role that every one of our presenters and their program teams have played in the station’s sustained success, as we set out to do it all again.”

Macquarie Media chief operating officer Adam Lang said the group is also very pleased with the increase in audience on Magic 2CH and the launch of 2UE Talking Lifestyle.

“We are dedicated to our audience and clients and look forward to growing our position as the premiere news talk and entertainment network,” he said.
