Say Hi To The Technology Winner From Women In Media!

It’s our final fantastic winner from our 2016 Women in Media awards, and today we get to know the technology champion Ally Watson, Deepend Melbourne’s programmer / developer, and founder of Code Like A Girl.

Ally Watson is a developer so passionate about increasing the number of females in technology, she launched an initiative called Code Like a Girl in August 2015.

The initiative is dedicated to providing women with the tools, knowledge and support to enter and flourish in the world of coding.

Drawing from her background and experience in the tech industry, Ally also runs a series of tech-focused events and workshops around Melbourne, bringing together tech talents and girls who are passionate about coding and technology to learn, connect and celebrate each other’s achievements.

Since launching in August 2015 Ally has run six events, two workshops and has grown an online community with a reach of over 3000 people.

The initiative has received an extremely positive response from Melbourne’s tech community, companies and education institutes around Australia, as well as the media including the likes of ABC, The Australian Financial Review, SBS, Harper Bazaar, and Marie Claire.

Ally also works full time as a web developer for digital agency Deepend in Melbourne, and in less than 10 months has managed to achieve what has taken many other initiatives years to foster.
