Meet Our Women In Media Rising Star Winner!

Today, we get up close and personal with our fantastic rising star winner from our recent Women in Media awards. A junior copywriter for Leo Burnett Sydney, Samantha Cable might be young but she’s fast carving her own path in the industry.

Samantha Cable is a young woman going places. After flirting with a career as a surgeon, she decided writing was the thing closest to her heart, and hasn’t looked back since.

Her greatest accomplishment of 2016 was being named in the ‘Top Five Emerging Writers’ at the International One Screen Film Festival, as well as earning a shortlist award.

Her piece was a poem about Australia’s attitude towards mental illness. It impacted the wider community by challenging audiences to reflect on their life, and how they handle the hearts of their work colleagues. The project also nabbed a finalist award at New York Festivals.

After graduating, Samantha landed her first full-time job in January 2016 at Leo Burnett Sydney. During her first four months at Leo Burnett, she was named one of the best young creatives under the age of 25 by winning New York Festivals’ Young Globals competition.

In April 2016, she represented Leo Burnett in the News Corp Young Lions Competition, finishing as a finalist. In a separate category, her work was also shortlisted for the International Future Lions competition in Cannes, France.
