Optus #FanUpAUS Campaign Starring Lee Lin Chin, Ian Thorpe & Bondi Hipsters

Olympic great, Ian Thorpe and his unlikely support network, esteemed journalist Lee Lin Chin and YouTube sensations the Bondi Hipsters, have joined forces to encourage everyday Aussies to share a message of support with the Australian Olympic team as they kick off the #FanUpAUS campaign with Optus.

“Get creative. Get weird…take it to the next level” are words of inspiration issued by the pair in an online tongue in cheek video released today by Optus, official sponsor of the Australian Olympic Team.

Thorpe implores Aussies to have fun with their message of support and share these on social media with the hashtag #FanUpAUS. Whether it’s a cheeky selfie in the green and gold or a rendition of the national anthem, all messages of support will make a real difference to the Australian athletes in Rio.

“It’s easy to forget that these athletes represent their country for the love of Australia and many of them are on the other side of the globe without friends or family.“A simple photo or video can have a hugely positive impact on our athletes. These well wishes will serve as a timely reminder that the entire Australian population is behind them as they do their best to be successful in Rio” Thorpe said.

As fans across Australia use the #FanUpAUS hashtag, messages will be collected by Optus throughout the Games and displayed within the Olympic Village at ‘The Edge’ – a facility where Olympians, friends and family will meet – ensuring the country’s support is felt when needed most.Get behind the Australian Olympic team and share your message of support with the hashtag #FanUpAUS. The athletes are counting on you.
