Woolies Cuddles Up To Arnott’s As Social Media Rallies Behind Coles

As reported in B&T yesterday, Coles is refusing to accept the price rise on some varieties of Arnott’s Tim tams. In response to tim tam’s embarago, Woolworths has been offering a 30 per cent discount on Tim Tam range Arnott’s over the past week.

The Coles/Arnott’s dispute started back in October when Arnott’s requested a price rise on some of its biscuits including Scotch Finger, Teddy Bear, Monte Carlo and TeeVee Snacks. At the time, Coles accepted price rises of up to 9.9 per cent on 44 Arnott’s biscuit, including the traditional lines of Tim Tams.

In response Arnott’s has stopped supplying Coles the multi-packs of Tim Tam as well as the Adriano Zumbo’s coconut cream, choc raspberry and salted caramel varieties. Arnott’s is also refusing to supply four cooking stock lines.

“Arnott’s refused to give us the detail on this (price increase),” Coles managing director John Durkan told The Australian. “So we had to refuse the cost increase.”

Woolworths is currently selling the Adriano Zumbo Tim Tam varieties salted caramel, coconut cream and choc raspberry on a two-week special, Woolies insists this is a coincidence which has nothing to do with the dispute between Coles and Arnott’s.

Overwhelming the posts on Coles’ Facebook page has supported the supermarket chains Tim Tam’s decision, others are changing to Woolworth’s in protest:

Citing “ongoing challenges” and “divergent feedback” from different corners of the digital advertising industry, Google delayed the end of third-party cookies from the “second half of Q4” to early 2025. Much of the dragging has come from Google having to […]
