Optus has appointed Thrive PR and Communications to manage public relations and influencer activity following a competitive pitch process.

Thrive will support Optus’ consumer and small and medium business (SMB) functions.

Melissa Favero, director, corporate communications, Optus, said, “Thrive stood out throughout the pitch process for the team’s creativity, ability to execute intelligent and far-reaching campaigns, and strong media relationships.

“Optus is passionate about entertainment and as our business evolves, we’re confident Thrive can help us deliver strong campaigns that stand out in the market.”

Leilani Abels, managing director, Thrive PR, said, “As an Australian owned independent agency, Thrive is delighted to have the opportunity to work with Optus. This win allows us to continue to deliver best practice campaigns and take PR activity for Optus to new heights. We are committed to supporting Optus’ objectives and to being the number one resource to media in this country.”

As part of the tender process, Optus’ incumbent agency, Fuel Communications, will finish up work at the end of the month.

“Optus and Fuel have had a long and successful partnership that has covered PR activity across consumer, influencer, SMB and regional. The team managed some fantastic projects and executed award-winning creative work,” said Favero.

Mandy Galmes, managing director, Fuel Communications, said, “We have had a great five years working with Optus across the breadth of its business and are really proud of the innovative campaigns we have delivered during this time.”

Thrive will commence working with Optus in October.
