Google Android Teams With Droga5 To Celebrate Today’s Leap Second

Prepare for the end of time as today the world will experience a minute lasting 61 seconds. Will birds fall out of the sky? Will the earth split in two? Will anything actually happen? Nope, because it already happened at 9:59 am.

The leap second is so timekeepers can adjust high-precision clocks so they are in sync with the Earth’s rotation, which is affected by the gravitational pull of the sun and moon.

Google Android, with the help of ad agency Droga5 and the man behind ‘1 Second Everyday’ app, will be celebrating the momentous event that nobody knew about. Google has created Leap Second 2015, a gallery that displays how people all over the world enjoyed the extra second added onto their lives.

People using the ‘1 Second Everyday’ app are encouraged to hashtag their one second. The most popular hashtags were #happy, #selfie, #dog and #work

What did you do with your extra second? Nothing because it’s a second. Tweet us @bandt
