Rebekah Horne to lead Ten's digital strategy

Network Ten has recruited the former head of MySpace Australia and ex-DMG Radio Australia digital lead, Rebekah Horne, as chief digital officer.

Horne has been charged with the development of Ten’s digital media strategy in her new role, which is effective immediately.

Horne replaces Nick Spooner who left the free-to-air network in July 2011 to be Salmat Digital’s chief executive. Horne joins Ten through her company Inception Partners and will report directly to chief executive, James Warburton.

“We are delighted to welcome someone with Rebekah’s experience and skills to Network Ten,” Warburton said in a statement.

“We have made significant progress with our digital media business over the past 12 months and Rebekah will play a key role in accelerating our growth in that area.”

Horne was most recently CEO of Los Angeles-based social commerce platform, TopFloor.com. The start-up was funded by Google Ventures, Polaris and Science-Inc.

“The television industry has been faced with enormous changes that have had significant implications for all players in the value chain,” Horne said.

“This challenge provides the opportunity for the industry to overhaul its traditional model and ways of creating, distributing and monetising its content.”

Prior to TopFloor, Horne was chief digital officer at DMG Radio Australia. DMG Radio is owned by Ten chairman Lachlan Murdoch’s investment firm, Illyria.

Horne has also been Australasian, then international, managing director of Fox Interactive Media and has held a senior content and commerce position at Optus.
