Last night’s MasterChef semi-final may have had one of its biggest audiences of its 2017 season, however, it was still a long way off Channel Nine’s all-conquering Ninja Warrior that has continued its dominance over its rivals.

Last night’s Ninja pulled an impressive 1.75 million viewers according to OzTam figures, while Ten’s MasterChef did well with 953,000 but still 800,000 behind.

Ninja was easily the most watched show of the night, with Nine’s News (1.23 million) just nudging Seven’s news (1.22 million) for second position.

Nine won the night with an impressive 37 per cent audience share, leaving arch rival Seven in its dust with just 25.5 per cent. Ten managed 18.7 per cent, the ABC had 13.7 per cent and SBS just 5.1 per cent.

Nine’s 60 Minutes also enjoyed Ninja’s halo effect, managing 1.03 million and beating rival Sunday Night who could manage just 792,000 despite a well-publicised interview with tennis brat Bernard Tomic.

MasterChef was Ten’s standout, while the rest of the evening fared less well for the battling broadcaster. Bull managed 416,000, Modern Family had 355,000 and its news bulletin had 305,000.

ABC’s viewers numbers also appeared down. Its resilient 7pm news fell under the 700,000 mark with 686,000 viewers. Grand Designs New Zealand managed 508,000, Poldark 481,000 and A Death In Paradise was 318,000.

Over at the SBS its pick of the evening was Treasures Decodes with 212,000.
