smoothfm celebrates second year on air

Radio station smoothfm will celebrate its second year on air this week, launched in both Sydney and Melbourne on 21st May 2012.

The newcomer boasts impressive ratings, with a current audience of over 1.2 million listeners and a 6.7% market share in each market.

The combined audience for the adult contemporary music station has grown by 93%, making smoothfm one of Australia’s great radio success stories.

Playing both heritage and contemporary easy listening songs from iconic artists, smoothfm’s playlist is designed to provide an escape.

“We launched smoothfm two years ago with a unique music position playing the greatest songs and best artists regardless of their era or genre. With a focus on creating an easy place for our listeners to relax, smoothfm has been warmly received and our consistent growth is testament that we have created a radio station that plays the songs that our listeners love,” Paul Jackson, Nova entertainment group program director, said.

Smoothfm became a multi-platform opportunity in December 2013 after entering a strategic partnership with Foxtel to create smooth, the first Australian radio station developed into a TV channel and Australia’s first music channel dedicated to women.
