Rio 2016 Paralympics Advertises Games With Oscar Pistorius

on day 10 of the London 2012 Paralympic Games at Olympic Stadium on September 8, 2012 in London, England.

The organisers of this year’s Rio 2016 Olympics and Paralympics must have short memories, the official Twitter account has posted a video of convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius winning the 400 metre final back in 2012.

The 29-year-old South African double-amputee, dubbed ‘Blade Runner’, was the first athlete to compete at the Paralympic games and Olympic games, competing in sprint events for below-knee amputees in Paralympic events and in able-bodied sprint events.

In 2013 Pistorius shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, he shot Steenkamp four times. He did not deny shooting Steenkamp but claimed that he thought it was an intruder hiding in the bathroom. In 2014, Pistorius was found not guilty of murder, but convicted of manslaughter with a sentence of five years. Last year, his sentence was overturned and Pistorius was found guilty of murder.

The Paralympics tweet showed Pistorius and other athletes competing with the message “with the love of your life”. The Committee has not made any comment on the gaffee.
