Nike Delivers Self-Lacing Sneakers To Michael J. Fox

Nike has made good on its promise for the self-lacing boots from Back to the Future II, and has apparently delivered the first pair to Michael J. Fox, who played Marty McFly in the movies.

There has much whispered discussion as to whether the shoes will actually be real or not, however the self-lacing sneakers will go on sale in 2016.

In a statement about the futuristic shoes, president and CEO and Nike Mark Parker said: “We started creating something for fiction and we turned it into fact, inventing a new technology that will benefit all athletes.”

Fox tweeted out the letter her received from Nike.

And the Michael J. Fox foundation grabbed a photo of Fox in the shoes.

Other brands have been keen to get in on the Back to the Future action.

Burger King in France says it’s created the ‘hovertray’ so you don’t have to hold your food.

Similarly Toyota brought Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd (who played Doc Brown) together to spruik its futuristic car.

While releasing teasing trailers throughout the past few days, the official long-form video has just dropped.
