Mobile carrier service Kogan Mobile and telco giant Vodafone has announced a new agreement that will see Kogan Mobile and all its offers powered by the Vodafone network.

Kogan Mobile, a product of online retailer Kogan, had previously been in the market, however had to close things down in 2013 due to its wholesaler, Telstra’s ISPhone.

However, now Kogan is trying again, with executive director David Shafer saying they’re cutting out the middle man and sets a new benchmark for what mobile deals will look like.

“Kogan Mobile is back, and it’s better than ever. We’re here to do what we always do — cut out the middlemen and save smart shoppers some hard-earned money,” said Shafer.

“We continue to receive streams of messages from fans asking when Kogan Mobile is coming back. We knew we had to give customers what they were asking for.

“This time, Kogan Mobile has cut out the middlemen in a direct deal with Vodafone, which means we can pass on savings to customers, whose service will be reliably delivered by Vodafone. We now have a network ally who is really supporting us, isn’t scared of competitive pricing, and has an interest in seeing Kogan Mobile succeed in the market.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Vodafone to enable us, once again, to offer Australians a mobile service at the incredibly low prices they have come to expect from Kogan.com.”

The deal will see the 3G Vodafone network extended to Kogan Mobile customers, with 4G expected to start next year.

CEO of Vodafone, Inaki Berroeta, said: “As a strong proponent of competition and choice, we are proud to be the network of choice for Kogan Mobile, and privileged to be at the service of their customers.

“Kogan has become a household name through online retail innovation, challenging the status quo, and delivering great value to Australian consumers. Something we are big believers in. We are delighted to be part of their next chapter.”
