Getty Images Transforms Search For Publishers With New AI Tool

Visual communication giant Getty Images has released a powerful new AI tool for publishers that recommends the best visual content to accompany a news article.

Panels by Getty Images uses customisable filters and a self-improving algorithm that learns how an editor selects Getty Images’ content, enabling it to better optimise the results over time.

Developed in partnership with cloud-based image optimisation platform Vizual.AI, Panels by Getty Images is available to its Premium Access subscribers.

The tool draws on Getty Images’ extensive creative and editorial content, providing media editors with a customisable research assistant to help them summarise articles and easily match it to the best visual content.

Andrew Hamilton, senior vice president of data and insights at Getty Images, said: “In today’s digital world, publishers are under constant pressure to tell the latest story and compete for consumer attention.

“At the same time, we know how important compelling imagery is to creating online engagement. Panels by Getty Images meets both of these challenges for our customers using the power of artificial intelligence.”

Vizual.AI chief executive Doug Boccia said: “We know how important quality content is to publishers and we are excited to launch this new AI tool that allows media publishers to discover stunning visual content with the immediacy that the current landscape requires.”

ESI Media managing editor Doug Wills said: “We are delighted that Getty Images has involved us in the development of Panels by Getty Images.

“It makes absolute sense to combine developing AI technology to save time and present editors with a curated set of picture options.”
