Andrew Denton And David Gyngell To Launch New Chat Show On Nine: Reports

Reports former Nine boss David Gyngell is happy playing dad and counting his large payout seem to be untrue with reports this morning he’s developing his own chat show and has pitched it to his former employer.

According to The Australian, Gyngell has joined forces with Andrew Denton to develop a “multi-series agreement” said to be similar to ABC’s popular Enough Rope format.

However, the article does note that the idea is still in the development stage and nothing official has been signed. It is understood that Nine think very highly of Denton despite his work primarily appearing on the ABC.

Aussie TV has had a dearth of good chat shows, arguably since Enough Rope ended. However, the ABC’s new Anh’s Brush With Fame has proven a ratings bonanza for the public broadcaster and proves with the right guests and a good dollop of humour then you tend to be on a winner with audiences.
