It was a tight race between Nine’s The Block: All Stars and Seven’s Downton Abbey last night, with the former triumphing to the tune of 1.4 million viewers.

Seven’s tent-pole period drama won a hefty 1.3 million in second place above Seven News, which took out 1.26, according to OzTam's free-to-air overnight metro rankings. 

Ten’s MasterChef The Professionals, which has suffered at the hands of My Kitchen Rules over the last few weeks, at times falling out of the top 20, made it to ninth spot scoring 852,000.

Ten’s new crime drama Elementary missed out on a spot in the top 10 but pulled an audience of 757,000 in 12th place.

News and current affairs performed strongly, with Nine’s 60 minutes taking fourth place with 1.18 million viewers, followed by Nine News  on 1.16 million.

Seven’s law enforcement reality shows, The Force and Border Security also made the top ten, the former scoring 1.13 million and the latter taking 1.05 million.

Seven’s footage of the V8 Supercars Round 1: Clipsal 500 succeeded in locking down 14th place on the rankings ladder with 694,000 viewers.

Seven won the largest share of audience with 30.9%, while Nine scored 29.2% and Ten took 19.5%.
