The Block and My Kitchen Rules steal MasterChef's viewers

The television ratings were littered with million-plus results last night but Ten failed to cut a slice of the prime-time love with MasterChef: The Professionals absent from the top 20.

MasterChef’s audience dropped to 568,000 from 1.028 million the night before as ratings juggernaut My Kitchen Rules returned with 1.8 million viewers, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro figures.

MasterChef did grab a top 10 spot within the 16-39 demographic with 234,000 viewers and sat in 11th amongst 18-49s with 329,000 viewers.

Seven’s Revenge was the second most watched show with 1.306 million viewers, claiming third place with 16-39s and 18-49s.

Nine’s sitcom The Big Bang Theory pulled in 1.275 million viewers and was the second most watched program within the 16-39 and 18-49 demos.

The Block: All Stars sat in sixth place with a total audience of 1.137 million viewers.

The new-look Today Tonight, led by former Ten presenter Helen Kapalos, claimed an audience of 993,000 viewers but was beaten by competitor A Current Affair which pulled in 1.135 million viewers for Nine.

Nine News also beat out Seven News with 1.234 million viewers compared to the latter’s 1.194 million. Ten News at Five had an audience of 698,000 viewers.

Seven won the night overall with its main channel taking a 25.7% share of daily free-to-air audiences compared to Nine’s 23.6% and Ten’s 9.3%.

The ABC had 15.1% and SBS had 2.9%.
