Slow night sees a leveling of the field

Only Seven and Nine’s news programs cracked the million mark for Thursday night, with 1.075 and 1.065 million viewers respectively, according to the preliminary OzTam ratings results.

On the traditionally quiet evening leading into the weekend, who says Thursday night isn’t the start of the weekend, Home & Away was the top-rating program outside of news and current affairs, securing sixth position with 838,000 sets of eyeballs, nudging out Big Brother, which garnered 732,000 viewers.

The ABC had seven of the twenty programs, giving it 18.7% of the total spoils and third place for the evening. Seven had five programs in the top twenty and was the winner on the evening with 29.2% of the share.

Nine was a close second with 27.7% of the share and four programs rating in the top twenty, while Ten came fourth with four shows in the top twenty and 17.2% of the share. SBS brought up the rear with 7.2% of the total evening’s audience and unfortunately it didn’t trouble the top twenty scribes.
