Seven smashes competition by almost 10%

Even though the third day of the Australian Open only pulled in under a million viewers Seven still managed to smash the competition, beating Nine by almost 10%.

Day three of the Open only brought in 828,000 viewers last night, less than the second day of the tennis competition showing Hewitt’s devastating loss.

Overnight Seven scored a whopping 33.7% total combined share, according to preliminary metrics rating company, Oztam.

Helping to bring Seven to this result was Seven News, Today Tonight and the third day of the Open.

While Ten managed to squeeze its coverage of the T20 Big Bash League Game 24 into the top 20 most watched shows last night, it wasn’t enough to beat out Nine for second place.

Nine ended up with a total combined share of 24% and Ten came in third with 20.7%.

The ABC network was just behind with a share of 16% and SBS came fifth with 5.7%.
