As the commercial networks go head to head  at 7.30pm in the battle for reality fans, MasterChef Australia has managed to hold on to 847,000 viewers.

The result is down only slightly to MasterChef’s launch which pulled in 874,000 viewers for Ten earlier in this week.

Seven’s House Rules dropped significantly, losing 134,000 viewers from the previous night and dipping below the million mark to 951,000 viewers.

Nine’s The Voice, which also kicks off at 7.30pm, was by far Tuesday evening’s most popular program with 1.896 million viewers.

The Voice came first overall with House Rules in eighth place and MasterChef in ninth.

MasterChef, which ran until just after 9pm last night, beat Seven’s hyped US drama Resurrection.

Resurrection sat in 13th place with just 713,000 viewers, a sizeable drop from its premiere audience of 1.911m.

Nine won the night overall with a total 34% of all free-to-air viewers and 27.9% for its primary channel, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

Seven won a combined 26.8% with 19.8% for its main channel.

Ten sat in third place with a total 18.9% and 14.5% for its primary channel.

The ABC was in fourth place on a combined 16.3% with 11.7% going to ABC1. SBS on 4% with 3.2% for SBS ONE.
