Pacific Magazines has unveiled the new look for its youth magazine Girlfriend, focusing the redesign to be more in line with readers.
As part of the redesign a social media campaign will be integrated alongside, with hashtags scattered throughout the magazine.
“Hashtags are now featured throughout the magazine, which will allow our readers to interact with each section and encourage them to share content,” Sarah Tarca, editor of Girlfriend, said.
“For example, #gfprettythings is a reader beauty challenge each month and #gfimadeit is the hashtag readers can use to show us their skills at making things from our DIY pages and brand-new recipe section.”
The campaign will be featured across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with different executions for each to promote the new-look mag, such as Instagram competitions and 30-second creative video clips.
“Our research shows that due to the emergence of photo editing and design apps, teen girls, now more than ever, have an opinion on colour and design, and their feedback was an integral part of the redesign process,” Tarca added.
“We’re really excited about the relaunch as it’s a fresh new direction for the mag. Our three-pronged approach aims to encourage readers to buy the mag, drive conversation around the new look, as well as get readers interacting with the magazine.”
