Damien Woolnough named Elle deputy editor

Bauer Media Group has appointed The Australian’s fashion editor, Damien Woolnough, as deputy editor of Elle Australia.

The announcement follows the appointment of Justine Cullen, former editor of Shop Til You Drop, to the role of editor.

Prior to his role with The Australian, Woolnough was the editor of vogue.com.au and fashion news editor at Vogue Australia.

Cullen said: “Damien’s stellar fashion pedigree and online experience make him the perfect person to join me in leading what will be the most exciting, relevant and forward-facing fashion media brand in the country. I’m thrilled to have Damien on the team.”

Woolnough said: “Having worked on some powerful media brands, the opportunity to be a part of the Elle Australia team was irresistible. Elle appeals to women who love fashion, understand luxury and appreciate intelligent and exciting content.

“I'm looking forward to bringing my experience in journalism, luxury media, fashion brands and digital platforms – with an irreverent dash of ‘homme’ – to Elle Australia.”

The first issue of Elle Australia will be on sale late September; the website, Elle.com.au, will launch in August.

Woolnough will join Bauer on April 22.
