ProjectWorldwide chairman and CEO Robert Vallee has announced that after 14 years in the role, Peter Rix (pictured above) will be stepping down as executive chairman of GPJ Australia, but will continue as non-executive chairman through until December 2017.

Rix’s impact over 45 years looms large in the events and music industry following a career that included music artist management, the creation and production of the ARIA Music Awards for 15 years, through to involvement in production of the Sydney Olympic Games, National Rugby League grand finals and myriad corporate events for significant global brands.

Rix also received a lifetime achievement award at the 2011 Australian Event Industry Awards.

Vallee said: “Peter Rix has had a significant impact on our Australian business and been a guiding light to so many, both current and past employees, as well as our clients and partners.

“Peter has led GPJ in the acquisition and retention of some of our strongest client relationships, including Toyota, IBM, AWS, HIA, APRA and Oracle. His attention to detail and commitment to creative excellence has set an industry benchmark.

“We are proud and privileged to have shared in his historic journey, and look forward to continuing our success under the strong Australian management team Peter has nurtured.”

Commenting on his decision to step down as executive chairman of GPJ Australia, Rix said: “It’s the end of an era for me, but I’m pleased to continue to work with the Australian business and our clients during the transition period, assisting Caleb Bush and his team as we take the next step in the evolution of GPJ.

“Caleb’s leadership over the past year has been exemplary and I am confident I am leaving our operations in capable hands. The GPJ Australian family is filled with dynamic, talented men and women, and I look forward to watching the continued growth and success of our business.”

Caleb Bush, managing director of GPJ Australia, said: “Peter’s passion for quality, creativity, and excellence has become the stuff of legend and he leaves us in a position of strength.

“As we look to the future, the Australian team has the talent and operational framework in place to build on our track record of growth and success, and continue the next stage in our transformation from an events business to a full-service experiential agency.”
