Cycling champion Anna Meares is the latest Olympic medalist to be name a brand ambassador for Optus.
Meares will appear in the second instalment of the telco’s national ad campaign, Relentless Improvement, that first starred super-fast human Usain Bolt.
The series will look back at Meares’ cycling life and achievements and how she got to where she is today.
“Anna is a remarkable athlete who has achieved unprecedented success on a global level,” said Ben White, acting managing director of product and marketing.
“She demonstrates time and time again that relentless determination is the defining quality that sets her apart from the rest.
“Overcoming what could have been a career-ending injury to win an Olympic medal in 2008 really highlights that Anna will stop at nothing to prove herself.
“Optus will stop at nothing to improve our network and content offering to bring our customers the best in sport and entertainment.”
Meares added: “All athletes can identify with the idea of relentless improvement; it’s the fundamental concept that drives us to achieve our goals – and more than ever as we look towards Rio 2016.
“Competing at the Olympics is a huge moment for any athlete, but it’s not just being at the Games – it’s all of the hard work and commitment that comes before that. A good support network is critical, and it’s great to know Optus is supporting us now and in the years to come.”
Meares is also an ambassador for Cadbury.
