Keeping Up With The (Browser Blocking Of) The Kardashians

While the rest of the world is busy trying to keep up with the Kardashians, B&T are desperately trying to avoid them, so we’re welcoming this new app from Britain.

Viral marketer James Shamsi has had enough of the famous-for-no-apparent-reason family, and so the 21-year-old released a browser extension called KardBlock to eradicate any mention of the crew from the places we find our news.

“Basically, what was happening was that there were Kardashians everywhere, and I wanted to do something about that,” he explained to The Daily Beast. “But for me, when I follow pages, I am not doing it to get a constant stream of updates on the Kardashians.

“I am interested in deeper issues. But every platform seems interested in Kardashian news to the point that everything else gets crushed.”

Shamsi has big plans, however, that stop just short of global domination, with the marketer saying he is “looking to disrupt the entire digital advertising space”.

But the app has received terrible ratings in its first few months on the market, because apparently the Kardashians are an integral part of our society we simply can’t live without.

And with only 2300 users and plenty of “doesn’t work” type comments, it’s not exactly a strong competitor, with software browser extension Kardashian Filter pulling in more than 13,000 users.

And while we’re all for a bit of Tay Tay goss, blocking the ever pervasive Kardashian family mightn’t be the worst move we make, whatever method we use.
