Fairfax Media has launched a new mobile ad unit that will take over the entire background of the Weatherzone app for its launch advertising partner, Telfast.
“The Eclipse” mobile ad unit utilises a ‘Pollen Index’ to deliver ads promoting Telfast hayfever products to Weatherzone app users, on high to extreme pollen days.
Weatherzone head of product Todd Baker said: “The Eclipse is a non-invasive ad unit that sits behind the app’s content, adding to the user experience with relevant information based on the conditions.”
The Telfast branded background is a clickable static image that directs users to places where they can buy Telfast hayfever products.
“This ad unit combines a huge screen real estate, with the ability to target the weather conditions and location data on our Weatherzone product,” Fairfax Media Mobile commercial manager Stewart Heys said.
“The Eclipse is another example of our commitment to delivering unique advertising solutions that engage consumers on mobile devices.”
