Coca-Cola in the US has gone for the tried-and-true hot pool cleaner route for its latest TVC that, interestingly, also includes a gay twist to the traditional doting mother and daughter.

As our ripped protagonist tends the leafs in the pool a young girl and her gay brother lust after him from adjoining windows. As they race to deliver him a Coke it appears horny old Mum’s already beaten them to it. Check out the ad below:

Commenting on the new spot, a Coke spokesperson told US industry site Adage: “This story has more layers [than previous campaigns featuring a Coke hunk], including a ‘wink’ that touches on our point of view regarding diversity and inclusion. We are managing our culturally relevant messages organically within our campaign spots not as the main subject of the story but as subtext.”

The new campaign follows on from local Coke news in Australia with Cummins&Partners announcing it had won a global pitch for the soft drink manufacturer, and industry rumblings around some parts of Coca-Cola South Pacific’s local media.
