Starcom’s Elizabeth Vaz Celebrates 30 Years With The Agency

Starcom client business director Elizabeth Vaz clocked up a rare milestone in the advertising industry – celebrating 30 years with Starcom this week.

Liz began her media industry career with Masius Advertising before she joined what was then Total Media in 1988 as personal assistant to the managing director.

In 2001, Starcom and Total Media merged to create what was Australia’s second largest agency.

She has worked in various roles at Starcom, including media buying, planning and strategy.

Her 30-year anniversary was celebrated at Starcom with speeches and accolades, led by Melbourne MD, Stuart Jaffray, and surrounded by staff.

Her daughter, Andrea Vaz, is continuing in her mother’s footsteps and works at Publicis Media as research systems manager.

Reflecting on her tenure, Vaz said: “I love what I do and I love Starcom, especially the people. Starcom attracts wonderful people, who are proud of their work and very talented. It is a very caring place.

“My advice to anyone is that people forget a lot of things in life, but people never forget how you made them feel. So make everyone feel good about having met you.”

Commenting on Vaz’s milestone, Jaffray said: “It’s an incredibly rare thing to have someone stay a loyal and valued employee at one place for 30 years, but Liz is a rare person.

“She has the ability to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing media landscape and both clients and our people cannot imagine Starcom without her.

“I’d like to warmly congratulate Liz – and here’s to another 30 years!”
