NOVA Continues Partnership With Melbourne Comedy Festival

Nova 100 celebrates its eighth year as partner for the globally respected Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

This year Nova 100 will provide listeners with some of the best experiences and highlights of the comedy festival and for the first time add a trade element by using comedy to mentor and entertain media agencies.

Louise Higgins, NOVA Entertainment COO said, “Nova and Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s marquee partnership is one of our most valued and rewarding relationships. We are delighted to work with one of Australia’s premiere events, which not only reflects the Nova brand and values but also our commitment to constantly create engaging content that is loved and shared by audiences wherever they are.”

Nova 100’s Meshel & Tommy will showcase the best of the festival with 30 comedians in three weeks. The duo will chat to some of the best local and international comedians each morning during their breakfast show, providing listeners with a taste of what to expect during this year’s festival.

Nova’s ROFL Room will return for a third year. Showcasing an array of established and up and coming comedians, Nova’s ROFL Rooms will be held over three consecutive Saturday nights at Trades Hall from 28 March. Tickets can only be won by listening to Nova.

Meshel Laurie will return to the MICF for the first time in seven years with her comedy show Meshel Laurie Talks Funny on Saturday afternoons, Tommy Little will appear six nights a week with his show Tommy Little – Enter the Weapon and Nath Valvo will hold his Happy Idiot shows throughout the festival.

Throughout the festival, Nova will feature ticket giveaways to the hottest shows on the circuit and will cover the festival extensively on-line with reviews, highlights and videos, pop up comedy and interviews. All content will be housed on novafm.com.au.

For the first time Nova 100 is holding Stand Up School, a unique day targeting young rising stars in media agencies, designed to address the issue of retention and motivation, through reward, recognition and entertainment. Comedy is a natural entry point to deliver on this with Nova’s Tommy Little and Marty Sheargold and comedians Kate McLennan and Rachel Berger delivering practical insight to a uniquely designed and executed program.

Friday Funnies will see Nova 100 put on “pop up” stand up shows in key agencies throughout April with staff enjoying cocktails while comedians including Nath Valvo and Adam Rozenbachs do a live stand up set.
