Opinion News Site The Big Smoke Appoints New Editor

Welcome carpet with foot-ware on it

The Big Smoke is throwing open the doors for Mathew Mackie as the new editor of the ever-growing Australian opinion news site, allowing the team to take the popular platform to the next level.

The Big Smoke reflects the challenges and changes in the shifting Australian social and political landscape. The site draws primarily from two streams of writers; well known-Australian game-changers, and bold irreverent voices from all walks of life.

“What instantly drew me to The Big Smoke was how it gives a voice to ordinary people.  The site doesn’t just help everyday Australians articulate their opinions; it allows them to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best of print and television media. In many cases, this empowerment goes beyond what is offered by traditional media sources,” says Mackie.

Before joining The Big Smoke team, Mackie studied Arts (Film) at University, and launched ScreenInk Media, a film and television production company passionate about creating out of the box productions.

Through this, and his various contributions to websites all over the country, Mackie learnt just how diverse the Australian media landscape is. His pioneering attitude and drive to showcase the most twisted, muted voices he can find, will make him an excellent addition to the team.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled with the appointment of Mathew Mackie as our new editor,” says Alexandra Tselios, founder and publisher of The Big Smoke. “His experience demonstrates his love for uncovering the most unique Australian opinions in a way that is entertaining, insightful, and engaging.”

With the appointment of Mackie, The Big Smoke is set to enter an unprecedented phase of growth, with innovative commercial additions being launched in the coming months.
